How Does Eco Fashion Work?

There's no doubt that 'Eco fashion' and 'green fashion' are two completely different things. Ecological and environmentally sustainable ideas may become a trend, fad, or as it says, fashion, something that might be swept under the rug in years to come. Secondly, it can be viewed as fashion, like clothing, accessories, perfumes, aftershaves, and footwear that are eco-friendly. To define 'eco fashion' as apparel and its derivatives, focus on the statement that 'eco fashion' is fashion made with the environment in mind. So what does this really mean? There are four ways to interpret it;

  • Fashion made from organic materials
  • Recycling excess fabrics to create fashion
  • Using recycled materials not originally related to fashion to create fashion
  • Produced and created with the planet in mind.

Designers, brands, and labels have created products that can appeal to a wider audience, but currently the market for 'eco fashion' remains niche. Because 'eco fashion' is young and has over 100 years of modern styling to compete with, this isn't a problem. In the coming years, what will happen to 'eco fashion'? Some might say it's already happening; Is it blending with normal fashion? Have you noticed that 'eco fashion' isn't so much more expensive than regular production, and creates a lot more benefits? In the present, anything done on a small scale is going to be expensive because of the law of economy of scale, but if 'eco fashion' goes mainstream and all processes are inherently eco-friendly, there's no definition, just a shift in foundations.


'Eco fashion' is sometimes just an idea for people to jump on the bandwagon, and when they get bored, too many people have the same idea as they won't be fashionable anymore. Eco fashion can be a great thing for the future, but we should move forward together, not fight with each other, or criticize others for their efforts. We need to be farsighted in our quest for success, we mustn't lose sight of our values as our niche grows. As a conclusion, I would encourage all those who are committed to the preservation of our planet to work closely with those who are new to eco thinking or living. Remember to keep in mind the panoramic view; it is the landscape of our existence that we must protect in order to maintain our fashion.
