Frequently Committed Fashion Mistakes

There are many fashion gaffes, but what is it that most individuals do to make these gaffes? What causes something to look "fashionable" on one person but terrible on another?

In a poll of a diverse group of people, I posed the following questions:

What purchase do you believe has caused the most orphans (clothing you don't wear) to accumulate in your closet?

I was curious if they believed that they had made these errors when they purchased the:

  •     Wrong color
  •     Wrong size
  •     Wrong style

"Buying the wrong size," stated more than two thirds of the respondents. There are orphans in your closet, but this is not the cause. No, it's the wrong style that's to blame for why you have clothing in your wardrobe that you never wear.

Both men and women will purchase the incorrect size and wear it because they believe that "If it zips, it fits." Despite whether they ought to, people will retain these items in their closet and wear them.

If you have paid attention to what people are saying about you, I think you will wear a color family that might be a good family for you. This does not imply that you are dressed in your "personal best" shade. Rather, it is an OK color.

Typically, those who are not well-versed in fashion will visit a store, observe something on a mannequin or in a magazine, and copy that appearance. They will purchase this look regardless of how it may feel on them in an effort to be stylish.

After making their purchase and returning home, they will try the clothing on, gaze in the mirror, and lose all feeling of self. Friction is sensed at this location.

The discrepancy between the "styled" outfit at the store and how people perceive themselves is due to the divergence between their personal style and the outfit's. It gets removed since it doesn't "feel" like them and put back into the closet where it will stay forever.

Fashion or Style?

Fashion and style are not the same thing. According to former Vogue Magazine editor Edna Woolman Chase,

"Style must be had; fashion can be purchased."

Style is the core of fashion

Style is fashion's very foundation. Your very identity is rooted in style. That's just who you are. The market is filled with fashion. What's popular is fashion. On the racks, clothing is for sale. Once purchased, clothing needs to be styled to fit your preferences and personality.

The way a person styles their outfit to fit their personality is what distinguishes a pair of black jeans on one person from another.

Be Fashionable and Stylish

Being stylish and in style is not difficult. No, it's actually rather easy if you concentrate on the following three aspects of your wardrobe.

Core

The very basis upon which your wardrobe is constructed serves as its core. Similar to a house, walls alone cannot sustain much weight without a solid foundation. Get a fantastic fundamental wardrobe that fits your physique, one that includes dresses, slacks, skirts, and coats.

Accent

Accent colors can be added in your particular best colors once a base has been constructed. This will always help you feel and look your best.

Accessory

The finishing touch—the things that genuinely define your individual style—are your accessories. Accessories are what make it possible for you to look more stylish and assist you in avoiding fashion blunders.

When you build your wardrobe with foundational/core pieces, being fashionable, trendy, and avoiding fashion faux pas is simple. Using accents and accessories to emphasize your personal style makes you stand out.

Using style, you may express your unique identity to the world. You won't ever make a fashion faux pas again if done correctly!

Enjoy your sense of style and make a statement with it, and you'll always:

"Have Fun While Looking Good and Feeling Great!"
